Immunization

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the SBPSD preschool teachers and students, we would like to thank you for all that you do for us. We highly appreciate all the time you contribute to our classroom as volunteer. Unfortunately there have been changes in our immunization and tuberculosis requirement policy. It is required that a volunteer may not be a volunteer at a child care center unless the volunteer has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption. In order to qualify for an exemption the volunteer must submit one of the following:

  • A determination by a licensed physician, in writing, that immunization is not safe for them because of their physical condition or medical circumstances;

  • A determination by a licensed physician, in writing, that they have evidence of current immunity and or;

  • In regard to the influenza vaccine only, a signed declaration that the volunteer has declined the vaccine. Volunteers in a Child Care Center must establish that they are in good health through the public health screening that includes a tuberculosis test, after a risk assessment that indicates that they are free from infectious tuberculosis . They will do this by providing evidence of current tuberculosis clearance from a licensed physician or surgeon.

Thank you again for being great volunteers, and being a great part of our classrooms.
